Make Your Bed!

Making your bed is not something we take seriously enough. I mean c'mon, who's going to see it? If someone will, they will surely love you the same way regardless of whether you bed was made this morning or not! All jokes aside, making your bed in the morning may bring small but great changes to your life!

Not only will it make your room look cleaner, it will change the entire feel of the bedroom. Let's face it, it probably takes up most of your room, so think of it as a small project that covers a lot of ground space! Also, it may inspire you to clean other parts of your room, which will bring organization and order.

Why this is important:

When your living (or sleeping) space is organized, your mind becomes more calm. Organized space = organized thoughts. We all know how important that may play at let's say... 7 o'clock in the morning, or even at night! When our thoughts are clear and organized, we are more likely to make rational decisions and choices. Our bedroom is where we make so many of our decisions... (now get your mind out of the gutter ;)  Often, when I get in bed, I reminisce on the day that passed and make plans for the days to come. I can surely use the help to make my thoughts more rational and organized! When I wake up, I plan my day and activities, which of them have priority, deadlines, which of them I can put of until another day. My best wish is to sort them as easily as I can sort my blankets and pillows!

I bet you've never thought of how important minor details may be!

Another important reason that makes a difference in how I feel is when I come home tired. I am exhausted and so is my mind. Coming to a neat organized room helps me feel relaxed and ready to call it a day. Having a calm, relaxed mind assists in sound sleep, good rest, and ability to tackle tasks the next day!

Happy sleeping!

Deep-Tissue Detox

We are bombarded by so many chemical toxins in the environment, from pesticides, pollution, plastics, synthetic fragrances and other sources, that our bodies simply can't get rid of all of them efficiently. Fortunately, there are steps you can take to assist your body in eliminating toxins.

  1. FIBER:  Adding more fiber into your diet will greatly improve your body's ability to get rid of toxins. Look for: Psyllium husk, inulin and beta-glucans.
  2. EXERCISE:  Getting your blood pumping improves the movement of lymph through the lymphatic system. It also helps reduce overall body fat, which helps the body release stored toxins.
  3. SAUNAS:  It assists the body's adipose tissue in releasing toxins through a process called heat depuration. Start with 15 minute sessions and make sure to stay properly hydrated.
  4. CHELATION:  Chelation is a process in which certain agents are used to rid the body of toxic chemicals and heavy metals.

    DMSA - supplement
    N-acetyl cysteine (NAC)

Note: When using chelating substances, consider taking a multi-mineral. Chelating not only removes toxic metals, but good minerals like zinc and magnesium.

Herbs and Spices

Each herb and spice is unique, but some of them not only flavor our food, but generally benefit our bodies. Here are the details!

  • Garlic - Increases immunity; protects heart and liver
  • Basil - Promotes relaxation; fights inflammation
  • Cinnamon - Helps control blood sugar
  • Rosemary - Eases asthma; enhances memory and mood
  • Chili powder - Boosts metabolism; fights viruses
  • Oregano - Fights viruses and fungi (such as candida)
  • Turmeric (in curry powder) - Fights inflammation and disease (including cancer)
  • Sage - Increases mental function; improves mood
